Deleon Nelson Woodland High School Class of 2019

Deleon Nelson is a senior Class of 2019 at Woodland High School. Woodland High School is a good school in Dorchester, South Carolina that was established in 1999. It has a strong basketball team with activities in the winter and a great baseball team with activities in the spring. Deleon is a brilliant young man with a bright future and an enviable love for baseball and basketball.  We had Deleon’s shoot at Azalea Park which is located in Summerville South Carolina. It was a fun experience and after, I asked Deleon to say a few things about himself and the years he spent at Woodland High School.

• What Is Your Best Memory of Woodland High?

One of my best memories of Woodland High is attending prom. I also loved it when I got to travel to off games for basketball and baseball. There is also the moment where I made a commitment to play baseball for the University of South Carolina Salkehatchie. It is etched in my memory forever. USC’s baseball team is also known as the Indians and they compete in Region X of the National Junior College Athletic Association.

• What Are You Passionate About?

From what I’ve already said, you can tell that I’m very passionate about athletics. Baseball and basketball are my favorites in particular. Another thing I am also passionate about is succeeding. I’d love to make my parents proud because they’ve worked very hard to get me to where I’m at today. They deserve to see me succeed and I hope that they do.

• What Is Craziest/ Funniest Moment You Had in School?

I’ve had some very interesting moments at Woodland High School. The one I think that stands out the most was when I got stopped by the police in my car while going to Dorchester Career School. I had more than 4 people with me in the car! It was quite the experience lol.

• Plans After Graduation

After I graduate, I intend to see how much I could further my career in Baseball and basketball. Both sports are great and could take you places. I believe I could make an impact in both of them. We’ll see how it goes. 

• Any Encouraging Words for Upcoming Students?

I’d advise you to aim as high as you can in your academics and every other endeavor. I believe that the sky is the limit for you and your future. I also believe that you can achieve whatever you want to. Just be ready to work for it. I’d also like to advise that you make sure that you research the colleges that you like to the fullest before deciding on your next step in life after high school. Decisions like these shape your opportunities and play a part in where you end up in the future.

• How Did I Do at Deleon’s Shoot?

I love it when I get an opportunity to shoot young, brilliant and talented people like Delon Nelson. Azalea Park is a great location for a shoot with its landscaped flower beds, lovely ponds, fascinating sculptures, winding walkway trails, and scenic tennis courts.
